Tree removal Lindsay Ontario

The ice storm struck much of Southern Ontario over the last weekend of March 2025, leaving a trail of destruction across communities like Lindsay, Fenelon Falls, Bobcaygeon, and Omemee. Heavy freezing rain coated trees in thick layers of ice, snapping trunks, bringing down limbs, and in many cases, toppling entire stands of mature forest.

One such emergency unfolded requiring tree removal in Lindsay, Ontario, where Sarginson’s Tree Services was called out to a rural property hit especially hard. Over 2,000 trees had fallen, some collapsing directly onto the main hydro line leading to the customer’s home, while others completely blocked the only driveway, leaving the homeowner trapped.

Responding to a Critical Call

The urgency of this job was heightened by the fact that the customer was a local doctor who needed to get to work at the hospital. Time was of the essence.

Sarginson’s crew arrived promptly, assessed the site, and got to work. Safety came first; we provided the homeowner with a hard hat and guided him carefully through a temporary path cleared by the team.

Clearing a Safe Path

Our team used heavy equipment and chainsaws to cut a passage through the driveway, enabling access within hours. The job was not straightforward, and the icy conditions made it more complex.

Once a path was open, we removed the dangerous limbs and cleared fallen trunks around the home and hydro lines. This work will continue over several days as the site is safe and accessible.

After a Storm: What You Can Do?

Storm Damaged Tree Removal Lindsay Ontario

Significant storms like this are becoming more frequent, and ice damage is particularly devastating for trees. But there are steps you can take to reduce risk and stormproof your property:

Regular pruning

Removing dead, weak, or overextended branches helps trees withstand the weight of ice.

Canopy thinning

Strategically thinning dense crowns allows wind and freezing rain to pass through more easily.

Remove hazardous trees

Leaning, rotting, or poorly rooted trees should be removed before the next storm.

Hydro line clearance

Keeping branches clear of hydro lines can prevent service disruptions and reduce fire risk.
